Lawscot Foundation helps talented students from less advantaged backgrounds launch their legal education. As well as offering financial assistance, one of their key aims is to support applicants to develop their skills and confidence as they progress through their studies and into the world of work. Mentoring is an important part of achieving this aim, and the role of the mentor will be hugely valuable to the successful applicants throughout their qualification process.

Last month, we took part in a panel event for Lawscot Foundation to provide legal career insights. All of the solicitors who took part thoroughly enjoyed the session, and students found insights valuable.

Applications for mentors at Lawscot Foundation are now open. If you are interested in a position, read on.

Who can be a mentor?

Lawscot Foundation mentors are solicitors or trainee solicitors who support, encourage and guide students – known as ‘mentees’ – through their legal education journey as they make the transition from school to university, then later into the workplace.

We will be looking for mentors to support us this year (2021/22). All mentors are required to attend a compulsory training session run by Project Scotland 1 September (9:30-12:30) via Zoom. The application form is now available

The closing date for applications is 12:00 on Friday 20 August.
