Research carried out by law firm Bold Burdon Kemp revealed that almost half of people in the UK may not understand the legal aid system or how they can get legal help if they needed it. The research was carried out in support of calls for the UK government to make sure publicly funded lawyers are available to help the most vulnernable in society.

As part of the research, 2000 people across Scotland,, England, Wales, and Northern Ireland were surveyed with 46% of respondents indicating that they did not understand how they can get legal support the legal aid system.
