A Court of Session public holiday scheduled for 2022 has been amended to allow for a four-day holiday weekend announced by the Scottish Government to commemorate Her Majesty the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.

The Court of Session holiday presently scheduled for Monday 16 May 2022 has been moved to Thursday 2 June; while Friday 3 June has been created as an additional Court holiday.

To minimise the impact of the consequent loss of two sitting days during that week, the Lord President, Lord Carloway, has agreed that Monday 30 May 2022 may be used as a sitting day as required.

The change is made by virtue of the power conferred upon the Court of Session by section 103(1) of the Courts Reform (Scotland) Act 2014.
