A new resource published by The Judicial Institute for Scotland to support judges conducting jury trials using remote centres, may also provide practical advice for practitioners.
The Amalgamated Briefing Paper on Restarting Solemn Trials is designed to supporting judges, including sheriffs, in conducting jury trials using:
- the remote jury centre (RJC) model
- the new written directions process.
The new paper is streamlined, with unnecessary historical material been stripped out. the substantial content has also been revised to account for new practices and procedures.
